Dressing for a Stylish Island Wedding

It was a week-long celebration for Kimberley and Anthony and their guests on the Whitsunday Coast. Couple: Kimberly & Anthony Location: Endeavour Chapel, Daydream Island, Queensland Following a ceremony at the waterside Endeavour Chapel, guests celebrated under a terrace overlooking the beautiful Whitsunday coast. The venue styling tied in with the classic black-and-white theme, with white chiffon and fairy lights draped from the ceiling, white tablecloths and one-metre-high candelabras, each holding 30 tea-light candles and wrapped with white roses. Kimberley wore an ivory dress from Brides of Sydney with matching diamante-embellished Jimmy Choo heels. Her bridesmaids looked stunning in black, floor-length gowns, while the groomsmen wore black Spurling tuxedos with ivory rose boutonnières. As the wedding was on Daydream Island, guests joined the couple for a full week of celebrations. The group enjoyed fishing, jet-skiing, parasailing, minigolf and, of course, a stunning wedding. Bride's Advice: "My advice on a destination wedding is to go for it. I had the best week of my life spending it with more than 50 of the people I love the most. It was nice to enjoy dinners, cocktails, swimming and fun activities in the lead-up to the wedding. All our friends and family got to know each other beforehand and that made the wedding more enjoyable."

Hand-beaded Swarovski masterpiece

This couple didn't hold back, having a wedding that was both beautiful and bold Couple: Natalie & Sam Location: The Grand Paradiso This couple chose oyster with a touch of soft pink for their colour scheme, reflected in Natalie’s dress, shoes and jewellery, the men’s charcoal suits, the gorgeous bridesmaids’ dresses and the flowers, which were arranged by Natalie’s mother. Natalie wore an oyster coloured wedding gown by Lillian Khallouf from Liade Couture. The dupion silk dress was adorned with hand-beaded Swarovski crystals and beautiful French lace to tie in with the theme. Natalie also wore a Liade Couture headpiece, rosary bracelet and a pair of oyster PeepToe shoes. The bridesmaids wore pale pink Liade Couture dresses with a charcoal overlay to complement the colour scheme. “Lillian from Liade Couture is blessed with an amazing talent; her eye for detail is outstanding,” says Natalie. Natalie and Sam celebrated their marriage at The Grand Paradiso with 430 guests. The reception was a night of fun, dancing and laughter, with entertainment courtesy of an English band, an Arabic band and a comedian! For their bomboniere, Sam and Natalie made donations to Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) on behalf of their guests.

A Wedding By the Water

Julian and Shannon’s small ceremony was held outside Peats Bite Restaurant, beside the river. Couple: Julian & Shannon Location: Peats Bite Restaurant While a registered celebrant was present, Julian’s brother conducted the proceedings, which made it a very personal experience. Peats Bite Restaurant is only accessible by water, so the wedding felt remote although only an hour’s drive north of Sydney. The bridal party arrived in Shannon’s father’s boat while guests caught ferries. “Everyone felt like they were out of Sydney and on a little holiday,” says Shannon. This relaxed atmosphere was captured by Clare Oliver from David Oliver Photography. “We loved Clare’s natural documentary style,” says the bride. “The photos turned out even better than we could have dreamed.” The bride’s strapless Karen Willis Holmes gown contrasted with the bridesmaids’ black fishtail dresses, which they chose themselves from Charlie Brown. Shannon dyed her bridesmaids’ Deseo shoes bright pink to make them stand out from the natural greens and browns of the bush and the river. The wedding flowers — beautiful pots of petunias — continued the pink theme. Bride's Advice: “Go digital. It saves money and time. We used Wedding Paper Divas to make our own personal wedding website. It contained all our wedding information, and all of the RSVPS and messages came through the site.”
