What Should You Pack For A Destination Wedding?

Between trying to get everyone over there in time and trying not to forget anything, destination weddings need to be planned well.

W Retreat and Spa Bali's Aurelia Andriyani knows a thing or two about destination weddings. She works at a resort that specialises in them. So when she gives you advice on packing for your overseas nuptails - you listen.

First of all: Your carry on. Try to pack as many of your wedding day essentials in them as possible just in case the airline loses your luggage. Yes, it's rare, but it's not THAT rare, and you don't want to get to your big day without the dress. aurelia even suggests buying an extra seat for your dress, but you can decide whether that's too dramatic for you.

Purchasing a steamer is step two, mainly because you can purchase really cheap and accessible travel-sized ones that'll leave all your packed outfits in tip top shape for the day.

Speaking of travel-sized, try and get most of your wedding day makeup in its mini form so you can take it in your hand luggage. Again, this is to prevent last minute baggage loss.

If you've planned a beach wedding, which most destination weddings provide, make sure you pack flats. You will 100% not be going on the sand in heels. You just won't.

Leave you hair to an expert on the day by booking in ahead of time. Between the different voltages in overseas hotels and humidity, you're going to want that hairstyle to last all day.

Have a more casual outfit packed as well, just in case you feel like changing. You're a long way from home so your mum can't just nip back to your house to grab you something.

SUNSCREEN. Oh, and mosquito repellant. While they're a staple for any kind of holiday, you'll especially want it on your big day. Because nobody wants to look like a tomato while wearing white.
