Despite being only a convenient 90-minute drive from Sydney, the mountainous region of the Blue Mountains marks a unique and beautiful change of scenery from the urban environment of the city. From breathtaking gorges brimming with eucalyptus forest to extensive underground caverns made of limestone, the Blue Mountains promises countless wedding venues that you, your soon-to-be spouse and wedding guests will not be forgetting any time soon.
The Blue Mountains Botanic Garden, Mount Tomah, is a well-visited spot and with good reason. Covering 28 hectares, its colourful and vibrant gardens host thousands of different plant species. Venues at the garden include the Wedding Tree Terrace, which overlooks the Blue Mountains, and the Formal Garden, reminiscent of 17th-century European gardens. Looking for something different? Both above and below ground, the stunning Jenolan Caves are one of Australia’s most unique natural features. Hanging formations of pure crystal and underground pools of blue water can be found in the grottos, which form the world’s oldest open caves. Wedding venues include the limestone-walled Spectacular Cathedral Chamber, 52m high and able to host 100 people, and Blue Lake, where platypuses can be seen frolicking in the beautiful waters. Also on offer in this picturesque region is the Heritage-listed Carrington Hotel. Built in 1882, it has long been a part of Katoomba’s history. Be it traditional high tea in the Grand Dining Room, or the Old City Bank Brasserie for European meals, there are function rooms for every occasion including your wedding day.
