Styling To Capture The Season Of Your Wedding Day

Interior designer and TV presenter Tara Dennis shares her tips for creatively reflecting the seasons in your wedding theme

Be inspired by the seasons and take inspiration from nature. Choose key colours and textures and incorporate them into your plans.

SUMMER WEDDINGS can make great use of ocean blues for a beach theme. If coastal isn’t your style, take inspiration from summer fruits and bright tropical accents and incorporate a brighter palette into your wedding design.

AUTUMN WEDDINGS look fantastic with the warm, rich tones you see in fallen leaves. You can really make great use of wooden accents and candlelight to enhance those lovely orange and yellow tones.

WINTER WEDDINGS can also take advantage of wooden textures and candlelight, but instead of matching them with warm colours, pair them with the cooler, frosty tones of the season. Use glass and crystal as reminders of the icy weather and warm up with centrepieces featuring winter berries and pine cones.

SPRING WEDDINGS will give you your pick of glorious flowers and vibrant colours. My tip here is to choose a colour theme and stick to it. For example, if you prefer pastel tones, stay with the softer blooms which will allow for this and match with some lovely soft greens. Eucalyptus leaves look stunning in pastel spring bouquets. Vibrant colours are best paired with deeper greens and they look truly fantastic offsetting a white table, with simple glass and dinnerware.

SUCCESS WITH SUCCULENTS

For table centrepieces with a difference, consider succulents instead of flowers. They make fantastic and original table decorations and can even make it into the bridal bouquet! As a DIY alternative to traditional wedding favours, use small ceramic or clay pots and plant them weeks ahead of the big day to save time.
