JACQUI & JAMES THE TERRACE, THE ROYAL BOTANIC GARDENS, MELBOURNE
A STEP BACK IN TIME
Jacqui and James met at University in 2006 when they were 19 and studying the same course. They kept crossing paths at parties and lectures and James convinced Jacqui to go on a date with him. James proposed on Boxing Day in 2011. “He surprised me with a trip to Lorne, which is a beautiful coastal town in Victoria,” says Jacqui. “We stayed at the same hotel that we stayed in on our one year anniversary five years prior. He proposed on our balcony overlooking the ocean — it was beautiful!”
The couple wanted to keep the wedding fresh and sophisticated. Neither has eccentric taste and they wanted this to be refl ected in their special day. Minimalist elegance shone through. “We wanted our wedding day to have a modern classical theme with a touch of rustic charm,” says bride Jacqui. Her stunning Vera Wang Diana gown and Tony Bianco Bridal Range shoes were classically complemented by the groom’s black tuxedo from Harrold’s complete with shirt, bow tie and pocket square from MCM Studio.
After the “I dos”, guests moved to the reception, which was held in the beautiful Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne, a perfect backdrop for a glamorous yet rustic event. Lots of varied white flowers, greenery and distressed wood among hundreds of little tea lights highlighted the newlyweds’ taste and brought their dream wedding to life.
“Don’t let anyone sway your decisions; this is your day and you should get exactly what you want. Embrace
everything along the way — planning the wedding is just as much fun as the day. Slow down and grab a moment to really take everything in on the day. If anything goes wrong, just let it go and enjoy every second.”
