From designer chandeliers to industrial-inspired minimalism, we take a look at wedding venues with amazing interior design

Summer days

The ivy Sunroom’s black and white checks contrast with playful green-striped walls and fern-painted screens for a fresh and fun feel. The floor-to-ceiling windows ensure the room is bathed in natural light, making it ideal for daytime events. It caters for up to 90 guests for a sit-down event or up to 300 for cocktails, and there’s a handy outdoor terrace for some fresh air.

Hamptons chic

The recently refurbished Sunset Room at Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel is a gorgeous space with a relaxed, fresh and nautical feel.

Interior designer Caroline Choker says she was inspired by coastal escapes for an instant holiday vibe. “The styling within the Sunset Room is a collection of beautiful textures, materials and old treasures. “Weathered timbers, rattan, sisal, soft leathers, white pine stool chairs and refurbished vintage finds were hand selected to create a rich tone and seaside charm.”

Looking right over the harbour enhances the seaside holiday mood and also gives you the option of showing up in a yacht if you so desire! The Sunset Room has a capacity of 150 seated guests or 220 for stand-up cocktail events and Pete Evans Catering ensures that your food tastes as good as the venue looks.

1920s style returns to Sydney

The Hyde Park Ballroom has a distinctive opulence reminiscent of the 1920s era and The Great Gatsby.

Design highlights of the new venue are the stunning black staircase, leather wall panels and custom-made crystal chandeliers. Combined with the styling of gold mirrors, grand arched windows and intricate tiling, the result is a modern interpretation of old-world glamour.

Colours are rich black and metallic tones contrasted with creams for sophisticated elegance, and views of Sydney’s Hyde Park just add to the charm.

Cutting-edge cool

On the outside, QT Sydney brings together the former Gowings department store and State Theatre buildings on Market and George Streets in central Sydney, with their combination of gothic, Italian and Art Deco features. On the inside, it is an edgy, exclusive designer hotel. The historic elements contrast wonderfully with eclectic furniture and digital art pieces to create a playful and eccentric atmosphere, courtesy of local design talents Nic Graham and Shelley Indyk.

QT Sydney has two private dining areas that can host intimate events: the George Room, which can cater for up to 26 seated guests, and Market Room, which can cater for up to 55 seated. The Gilt Lounge is a small, alternative reception or engagement venue option where up to 30 people can sip on hip specialty cocktails and enjoy canapés in the colourful curtained-off Pink Room.

Best out of town

The Springs Golf Club, Peats Ridge, is a new wedding venue with distinctive industrial-style design. Concrete flooring, aged timber, metal tables, iron lights and cowhide furnishings come together to create a modern and sophisticated space.

The venue is set within a picturesque golf course and can cater for up to 200 guests for a sit-down event. Executive Chef, Mario Schwallie, can custom create a menu to suit your occasion, with a focus on fresh seasonal produce.

“We make everything in house — from our relishes to pickles, jams, pâtés and more — using local produce where possible,” says Mario. “My goal is to provide our guests with a remarkable dining experience every time.”
