Creative Hens' Night Ideas

Hens nights. Your mind probably wanders to novelty outfits, heavy drinking, strippers and nightclubs; a last wild 'single' night out. Some women embrace this stereotype wholeheartedly, however, this isn't the only way to celebrate as many brides are opting for a more relaxed option.

The increase in alternative functions has seen as creative ideas popping up across Sydney. These options are more inclusive of those who may not be interested in drinking or clubbing. There are events you can even bring the mother-in-law-to-be to, should you want to.

The sweet art

Patisse was created to bring the baking styles and traditions from Paris to Sydney, and offers private functions for 10 or more to learn the fine art of pastry. You can choose from a range of classes including making macarons, tarts and chocolate treats.

Upon arrival, you will be greeted with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and introduced to food guru Vincent Gadan. With over 25 years experience in desserts and pastries as well as regular appearances on Masterchef Australia, Vincent will ensure you are guided with professional expertise. At the end of the class you will have mastered some baking skills and have a box of delicacies to prove it.

Get crafty

The art studio offers workships that will tap into your creative side. You won't be short of inspiration as the studio sets you up in beautidul coastal bays or parks for an outdoor drawing and painting session.

Each class comes with a professional artist who will help to guide your pencils and brushes. You will begin with graphite and charcoal and as you become more confident, progress to painting your masterpiece onto a canvas.

At the end of the class, everyone gets to take home their own piece of art to hang on their wall and memories of a day of fun in the sun. Workshops range from $300 to $500. Contact The Art Studio at
