Vintage Elegance in an exclusive Sydney location

The Royal Automobile Club of Australia (RACA) is a classic venue that exudes sophistication, elegance and old-world charm. We spoke to RACA’s Rebecca Black about what makes this venue so special. Tell us about the Royal Automobile Club of Australia? Although we are a private members' club, we open our doors for a select number of weddings each year to provide guests with a beautiful, personalised and memorable experience. With unique features in each room, the club has quickly become a sought-after wedding venue and offers couples old-world charm right in the heart of the CBD. Our heritage-listed building offers a gateway to a world gone by where service, style and grace are a part of every day. What does RACA offer couples? An exclusive, heritage-listed venue, which has been in operation since 1903. The venue lends itself to elegant wedding receptions and ceremonies with an emphasis on quality and style. We offer all-inclusive packages with complimentary extras such as a DJ, accommodation for the bride and groom in our Harbour Deluxe Suite, their choice of centrepiece including decor and flowers and a menu tasting for two. Our venue is not only a unique place to have your wedding but we come with years of experience in providing quality service to our members and guests. We have a dedicated team who will take care of the couple from their initial enquiry right through to their big day and we take extra time to ensure each wedding is personalised to the couple’s specifications. What trends have you noticed recently? Couples are using many more nostalgic decor items — sometimes home-made or vintage vases, old-style candelabras and lots of flowers on the tables. Pop-up photos booths are also very popular at the moment, instead of the boxed ones with brides providing props for their guests to dress up in and just a camera on a stand.

An Old-fashioned Melbourne Wedding at The Willows

A crisp day in May made for a classically elegant wedding for Complete Wedding Melbourne’s ad-production co-ordinator Rebecca and her husband Ben Couple: Rebecca and Ben Location: The Willows, Melbourne The couple selected an autumn theme for their May wedding due to their mutual love for the season. Autumn leaves were scattered down the aisle and adorned the reception tables. “When I moved to Melbourne, one of the things I was most excited about was seeing the change of seasons, especially autumn. My fiancé’s favourite season is also autumn, so once we booked the date in May, autumn naturally became our theme.” "We wanted our wedding photos taken around the suburb where we met and now live.” Each location in their photographs has sentimental significance for Rebecca and Ben, from a corner near their first home together to the street where they shared their first kiss. Rebecca wore a Sophia Tolli gown from Brides on Main in Mordialloc. “I read an article in a previous issue of Complete Wedding all about what wedding dress designs suit your shape. It was a great help when I finally went to try on dresses, because I already had an idea of what would suit me”.
